Stamps From Around The World!

Research!

A Wide Range of Stamps from Ireland to Sierra Leone!
* Sierra Leone invented the first self adhesive stamp!

Some stamps are playful, light hearted and others are intricate designs with lots of information.

Look at the SHAPE of the stamp! Not all stamps are rectangles - Some here are circular, Triangular and even heart shapes (very last image!)

Consider the LAYOUT also - where is the information placed (literacy and numeracy - Eire 60c and even possibly a slogan/some writing)

Art History - Iron Age Stone Carving

Pre Christian / Iron Age Stone Carving !

Iron Age - https://arthistoryleavingcert.com/pre-christian-ireland-2/iron-age-la-tene-in-ireland/

Here are the Questions & Answers from our Kahoot game!

A number of stone idols and dressed stones have been found scattered around the Irish countryside that date to the Iron Age
The stone idols are visually quite dramatic, while the dressed stones with their carved designs are certainly aesthetically pleasing.
The exact function of the Iron Age stonework is not fully clear. They dressed stones may have been boundary markers or the stone idols may have been created by landowners to frighten off strangers approaching their land.

Whatever their function these stones demonstrate the artistic skills of the Celtic people at a time when available materials would have been minimal
