Student Material Exploration : Chalk Pastel.
Artist - Pastels - Degas & Mags.
Artist - Texture: Van Gogh.
After the students trialed the markings and textures of
chalk pastel they could begin their project!
(Step by step markings/technique for students who were out below)
1. Using the gridding technique students gridded up the photocopy of their squished face!
2. They then gridded up the black sugar paper.
The students then mapped out of the photo copy where the dark to light areas are,
(similar to the tonal scales that we have explored previously)
- Black
- Dark
- Medium
- Gray
- Light
(some students used variations of these words/terms of dark - to light)
*Some students were absent for this lesson and used tracing paper to catch up on this process*
Not all students are finished but
Here are 4 finished pieces of work!
Students that finished early extended their portrait by adding background details of their choice!
