In class we have explored Tone through pencil & colour pencil.
We then explored Tone through Chalk Pastels! 🖍
We looked at a very famous artist who uses Chalk Pastel - Degas.
We also looked at contemporary artist who uses pastels - Mags Williamson
In class we exerimented with two different colours of pastels! We followed the list below trying out each technique. 🖍 1. Blending (two colours together) 🖍 2. Little Strokes 🖍 3 Hatching & Cross Hatching (lines in one direction. Lines in two directions over lapping) 🖍 4. Side Strokes (putting the pastel on the long flat side) 🖍 5. Layered Side Strokes (putting stroke after stroke on top of each other) 🖍 6. Feathering (similar to hatching but may overlap in any direction) 🖍 7. Twist (lay chalk on its side and twist it with your fingers) 🖍 8. Pointilism. (lots small dots/marks ) 🖍 9. Drawing (using it like a pencil/pen)
